Is Class A CDL Training Right for You?
Class A is the highest CDL classification and opens the most career doors in commercial trucking. This program is designed for:
- First-time CDL applicants who want to drive tractor-trailers or combination vehicles
- Drivers with a Class B or C license who want to upgrade to Class A

No prior commercial driving experience required.
VSP trains complete beginners. You must hold a valid driver's license before starting training.

Inside the VSP Training Week
Every training day at VSP combines classroom instruction, range work, and behind-the-wheel time. You'll work with experienced instructors in a structured Monday–Friday format designed to prepare you for the CDL knowledge and skills tests.

Each training day combines classroom instruction covering federal regulations and safety procedures with hands-on behind-the-wheel time on VSP's training range and public roads. You'll work directly with experienced instructors throughout the program.
What You Need Before You Start
- Valid driver's license (any class) — required before training begins
- DOT physical / medical certificate from a certified medical examiner
- Ability to pass a DOT drug screen
- No disqualifying criminal history (VSP reviews on a case-by-case basis)
- Clean driving record — no major violations that would disqualify CDL issuance
- Commitment to the full Monday–Friday training schedule
- Payment in full prior to class — VSP does not offer payment plans

Attend Training
Show up Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM for your scheduled training week. Bring your valid driver's license and DOT medical certificate.
Pass Your CDL Tests
After VSP training, take your state CDL knowledge and skills tests. Pass both and you'll receive your Class A CDL.
